Grilled Golden Gruyere and Prosciutto Tortillas – a super delicious and easy lunch or snack with gruyere cheese and yummy prosciutto. 


You know how when you come home from work you’re not always in the mood for cooking because you’re exhausted? Well today I felt like that. I simply don’t want to be in the kitchen for long. I want to have a quick dinner with my husband and then just relax. All I can say is TGIF!

So I had a brilliant idea, if I do say so myself. I said to myself, how about some grilled golden Gruyere and prosciutto tortillas? OK, so it didn’t actually happen quite like that. I looked in the fridge and I saw some Gruyere cheese and I had some Prosciutto which I was trying to save for this awesome fig and Prosciutto salad, but since I didn’t have any figs I decided to use it. These tortillas could not get any simpler to make, I used my small grill, if you don’t have an indoor grill you can certainly make them on the stove in a non stick pan.

Basically all you have to do is take two large soft flour tortillas. Slice the Gruyere cheese in thin slices and place the slices over one tortilla. Sprinkle some freshly ground pepper over the Gruyere cheese and add some either fresh or dry basil. Next layer 3 slices of thinly sliced Prosciutto over the Gruyere. Top with the other tortilla and grill on both sides for about 2 minutes per side.


I don’t know if I’d consider this dinner but it certainly makes a nice snack and it did serve as dinner for hubby and I. And was it ever good. I don’t have Gruyere cheese often, it is a bit salty, and you could always substitute it with some good Swiss cheese.

  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 3 slices of thinly sliced Prosciutto
  • 3 oz Gruyere cheese, thinly sliced
  • fresh or dry basil
  • ground pepper
  1. Heat up the indoor grill.
  2. On one tortilla layer the cheese to cover the entire tortilla. Sprinkle with ground pepper and the basil.
  3. Layer with the sliced Prosciutto and top with the other tortilla.
  4. Grill for about 2 minutes per side.
