Lamb Souvlaki

lamb souvlaki-1-4

This recipe is for the true meat lover. Or not! Let me start by saying that I don't really like lamb. Seriously! Until I made this lamb souvlaki! I. Love. This. Lamb. What's so special about this lamb, you ask? It's simple. I marinated this lamb in this totally greek marinade for 24 hours. I love greek flavors, so my marinade was simple, olive oil, lots of fresh lemon juice, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic, onion and a little bit of Emeril's Essence. Well after 24 hours, the meat was infused … [Read more...]

Summer Fruit Salad with Lemon Dressing

fruit salad with lemon dressing-1-3

A great refreshing fruit salad is all you need on a hot summer day. You don't need a recipe for a fruit salad. Most of the times you just throw a bunch of fruits in there and call it a day. But this fruit salad is a bit special. I love this lemon dressing, it's like a very strong lemonade poured over my favorite fruits. For the lemon dressing, I used the zest from a lemon, the juice from a lemon, some sugar and water, boiled it all together until it thickens up a bit and let it cool. Then you … [Read more...]

Beef Soup (Ciorba de vacuta)

Today I'm going to share with you my husband's favorite beef soup recipe.  This is a very Romanian soup and very traditional.  It's very easy to make, just time consuming because you need to boil the beef for 2 or 3 hours until tender. You could speed up the process by boiling the beef in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes, just make sure you save all the beef broth and add that to your soup. [easyrecipe id="47" n="0"] Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Lemony Tilapia Fish Sticks

lemony tilapia fish sticks-1-2

Every once in a while I get in the mood for fish. Not often, I'm not a big fish eater, though I do like lobster and sushi and all that. But fish not so much. I do know that fish is good for you though, especially tilapia. It's such a lean fish, very high in protein and just good for you. It's not fishy at all, that's why I love this fish. There are so many ways to cook tilapia, but why not bake them and save yourself some calories. This is a very simple recipe and a perfect opportunity for me … [Read more...]

Luscious Lemon Pudding

luscious lemon pudding-1

Last year there was a new show on the Canadian foodnetwork channel. fish soup-1-6

In the month of May I'm going to be featuring only vegetarian recipes and some of them will include seafood. My mission is to prove to myself mostly, that there are many options when it comes to vegetarian dishes. To start this off, I've made this yummy halibut soup. I don't make fish soup often but sometimes I get in the mood for something different and recently I've been wanting to make a fish soup for quite some time. This halibut soup in particular is similar to a Romanian fish soup that … [Read more...]

Baked Tandoori Chicken

I love Indian food and just recently went to an Indian restaurant with my husband. He really enjoyed the tandoori chicken there and I thought I'd attempt to make it home. Now obviously making it at home will never turn out as it does in restaurants, because I don't have the right oven, but this recipe which I found here, with a couple changes of my own, turned out quite good . You get all the right smells of the Indian flavors as you bake the chicken, which I just love. Tandoori chicken is … [Read more...]

Blackberry, Raspberry and Pomegranate Cheesecake

My favorite dessert in the whole wide world is cheesecake. I love any type of cheesecake. And I have to say I make a pretty damn good one at that. Normally I make it with cherry topping, but my husband has been asking me to make something with the pomegranates we've had in the fridge for a few days now so I thought they would be perfect for a cheesecake topping. I also used blackberries and raspberries because I had some in the fridge and they made a lovely combination. I used to make … [Read more...]
