Classic Greek Salad

That's one delicious salad there! Greek salad is by far my favorite salad ever. This salad was extra special though. This salad was made with love by my dear husband. The only pleasure I take from being sick is having my husband cater to me. But it's true, I love it, my husband makes me teas, and lunch and dinner and it just feels wonderful. But all kidding aside this is one great salad. This is our recipe for Greek salad that we make over and over again. The only thing we change with it is … [Read more...]

Fattoush Salad with Chicken

A few years ago, I used to work at a bank in Troy, MI and there used to be a Lebanese restaurant, not sure if it's still around, but it was called La Shish. That's where I had my first Fattoush Salad. It was amazing, delicious, probably the best salad I ever had in my life. Well since then we moved to Calgary, and I haven't been to a Lebanese restaurant since. Not sure how or what happened, but I got a craving for one of those beautiful and scrumptious Fattoush Salads. I remember at the … [Read more...]

The Ultimate Brussels Sprouts Salad

brussel sprout salad-1

Ah, brussels sprouts. How many people can actually say the love brussels sprouts? Well I'm not one of them. But I'm stubborn that way. When there's a vegetable that I don't like I try and make something with it, until I like it. And that's what I did with brussels sprouts. Of course the addition of bacon to this salad immediately makes it out of this world, but there are a couple more things in here that I absolutely love. I added white cheddar cheese and pecans of course. I have to admit … [Read more...]

You all know my dear beagle that I love with all my heart. Here's a picture of her in case you don't know what she looks like. As you can see she's getting up there in age, she's 8 years old right now. A senior dog you might say. For the most part, she is the best dog in the world. I mean look at that innocent face. You look at that face and you think that dog could do no wrong. But that dog, that darling beagle always has one thing on her mind. Her tummy. So to make a long story … [Read more...]

Cabbage Bacon Salad with Buttermilk Vinaigrette

cabbage and bacon salad-1

In my last posted recipe I've established that bacon is a vegetable. :) So having said that today's recipe also classifies as a vegetarian dish. It's a cabbage salad with a super delicious buttermilk vinaigrette that just has some bacon in it. Without bacon, it just wouldn't be the same. Bacon makes the world go round. I put bacon on my bacon! OMG ... BACON! Got bacon? Keep calm and eat bacon. Bacon is meat candy. MMM ... BACON! Peace, love, bacon! Press button, … [Read more...]

Tuna Salad with Pecans and Raisins

I came home from work tonight, only to be surprised by my husband with dinner. I love it when he does this. Honestly I don't care what he makes, just the fact that he makes dinner is more than enough for me. Tonight he surprised me with this wonderful tuna salad with pecans and raisins. He made a couple sandwiches with it and I gobbled it up, it was so delicious. I wish there would be left overs so I can take some for lunch tomorrow, but no such thing, it was just that good. The ingredients … [Read more...]

Here's yet another salad! This salad, however, is my husband's idea and his recipe and the best part is that he made it. I can't complain when he cooks, because I love it, especially after a long day at work! This salad to me is the picture of health. Spinach, strawberries, tomatoes and red peppers. Super healthy recipe. One of my favorite salads ever. I promise my next post won't be about salads and I'll do some cookies or something. But I've been wanting to try all different sort of salads, … [Read more...]

Eggplant Salad (Salata de vinete)

eggplant salad (salata de vinete)

Have I got a treat for you! I mentioned before, I'm not crazy about eggplants, but this dish is one of my favorites, honestly. I would say it's more of a spread than truly a salad, but you serve this salad on some nice crusty bread with some sliced tomatoes on the side, oh man, it doesn't get better than this. It is the simplest recipe in the world, only 4 ingredients and it's just to die for. I have grown up eating this salad, and it's probably one of the first things I ever learned how to … [Read more...]

Cabbage and Sesame Seeds Salad

cabbage salad with sasame5

I'm continuing on with my salad recipes that I got from a friend of ours and I think I hit the jackpot with this cabbage and sesame seed salad. I am putting this on my favorites list because I just loved it. Normally I'm not a big fan of cabbage, and I will avoid it at any cost, unless I'm making cabbage rolls. This salad was so delicious I could not stop eating it. The sesame seeds give it a nice crunchiness, and the raisins give it a nice sweetness. It's just great, even my husband loved this … [Read more...]
