Pancetta and Gruyere Breakfast Pizza

As I sit here to write this post and look at these pizza pictures I remember the first time I ever had pizza. I was about 11 or 12 years old at a restaurant in Timisoara with my family. This was when Romania used to be communist and foods like this were not common. Eating at restaurants was not a common thing for us. Back then we had rations on oil and sugar, so it was not often my mom would indulge in baking. Baking was for special occasions like the holidays. But that day was a summer day and … [Read more...]

I kind of promised myself that I'll stop complaining to you guys about the cold weather here, but I can't help myself. It's freaking cold here in Calgary and it's going to be one cold weekend. Baked Parmesan Tomatoes

This week has been the longest week ever. But I say that every single week. I love Fridays, hate Mondays and everything in between, blah blah blah blah blah! That's the bad news. The good news is I have a new favorite appetizer. And that's these tomatoes here! Seriously, it's my new favorite way to eat tomatoes. These baked Parmesan tomatoes are the bomb!! Strong emphasis on the word baked, hence good for you. It's almost magical when you pair together tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. I don't … [Read more...]

Greek Chicken Red Quinoa Salad

Red Quinoa is becoming increasingly popular lately but I don't normally cook with it for one reason. My husband hates it! So I've been scratching my head here trying to figure out how to get him to eat his quinoa, because let's face it we all know that quinoa is highly rich in nutrients. But no matter how healthy quinoa and how good it may be for you, I just couldn't convince him to eat it. Until now! He loves Greek salads, he'll buy them or make them any chance he gets, so I thought to … [Read more...]

Mexican BLT with Guacamole

I think I have a split personality when it comes to food. The reason I say this is because sometimes you see recipes like this Mexican BLT with Guacamole or this Thai Chicken Salad on my blog which are fairly healthy and then sometimes you see recipes like Sex in a Pan or this chocolate cake here. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just wanted you to know that I know. Have I confused you yet? Well here's the thing my friends, you need variety in your life, so here you will find lots … [Read more...]

I am so excited about this recipe. Before today if you would have told me to try zucchini lasagna I might have given you a dirty look or laughed in your face. Not only is this beautiful recipe low carb but it is also low fat. So this gorgeous lasagna is what we came up with. It has zucchini in place of noodles, a delicious … [Read more...]

Breakfast Turkey Stacks

Yesterday I ate some sardines, something I hardly ever eat, but my husband had opened a can of sardines so I tried some. They were not too bad, but as soon as I ate them, my face swelled up and turned red. Luckily we had benedryl in the house so I took some. Today it's better but still not completely back to normal. What the heck, I didn't even know you could have an allergy to sardines and I know I had sardines before and nothing happened. I blame this on getting old, all kinds of weird things … [Read more...]

Classic Greek Salad

That's one delicious salad there! Greek salad is by far my favorite salad ever. This salad was extra special though. This salad was made with love by my dear husband. The only pleasure I take from being sick is having my husband cater to me. But it's true, I love it, my husband makes me teas, and lunch and dinner and it just feels wonderful. But all kidding aside this is one great salad. This is our recipe for Greek salad that we make over and over again. The only thing we change with it is … [Read more...]

shrimp and avocado salsa-1-10

Can there be anything better than a delicious salsa made with shrimp, avocado, cucumbers, tomatoes and a lot of other goodies? Probably not! But before I tell you about this recipe, I need to complain about the weather. It's been pretty yucky here in Calgary. It's now almost the middle of August and it rains pretty much every day. I don't get it. This is supposed to be sunny Calgary. But anyway, regardless of what the weather is like, one thing's for sure. This salsa is a summertime recipe, … [Read more...]
