Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter unsalted, grated
  • 10 slices bacon fried and chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ onion chopped
  • cups cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉.
  • Fry the bacon then the onion. Chop up the bacon in small pieces.
  • In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the butter and gently mix it in with the flour.
  • In a small bowl mix the milk, egg, and vegetable oil then add the wet ingredients into the flour mixture.
  • Add the bacon, onion, and cheddar to the mixture and combine everything but don't over-mix.
  • Roll out the dough so that it's about ¾ of an inch in thickness and using a 2" cookie cutter, cut it into biscuits. Bake for 25 min.
  • This recipe yields 12 biscuits.

Notes

  1. For a spicier kick, consider adding in some diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne.
  2. These biscuits are best consumed fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  3. Reheat leftover biscuits in the oven at 300℉ for about 5 minutes to maintain their crispy exterior.
