Howdy! I have a great recipe for you today, the most delicious, pear prosciutto and arugula flatbreads. You could have these flatbreads either for lunch, a muy delicious snack, or as I did for dinner.
The other day my dear husband, the hand model, decided to treat me and take me out for dinner after work. In our subdivision there is this little plaza with everything you need there, and there we found this great pub, called Kildare Ale House. We had never been in there, but since it’s the only restaurant in this little plaza that we haven’t tried, we went in. Well I just couldn’t decide what to order off the menu, it was typical pub food, and while the hand model decided on fish and chips, I wanted something else, something a bit lighter. So I saw these flatbreads in the pizza section, I can’t remember the exact name but it was something like Rocket flatbread, and while the name didn’t mean much to me, the ingredients intrigued me.
I loved it, it was the perfect dinner portion, not greasy, nice healthy ingredients and the flavors were amazing. Being the foodie that I am I knew I just had to replicate this. So I’m just going by memory here, but honestly you can’t go wrong with flatbreads.
So let’s get this puppy going. You’ll need some flatbreads, I am using these naan flatbreads I bought at Sobey’s, they have them white or whole wheat, you could also just make your own pizza dough and use that. The cheese I decided to go with is Asiago cheese which is one of my favorites. Honestly I can’t remember what kind of cheese the pub used. So really, just go with your favorite cheese.
You’ll need a pear and prosciutto. Don’t you just love prosciutto? Prosciutto is an Italian ham that’s been cured by drying and it’s sliced very very thin. If you’ve never had it before, go right now and buy some. It’s amazing! So layer some prosciutto slices over the cheese and top with pear slices. Doesn’t matter what kind of pears, just whatever you can find at the supermarket now.
Now here’s the interesting part. You need some kind of sauce, right? How about some BBQ sauce, just drizzle a bit on top, or more, how ever much you want and like. There’s no science involved here, just love, it’s all about love and what feels right.
That’s it for now. Now you just have to bake it at 425 F degrees for about 10 minutes or you see it turn brown like below.
I know you’re probably tempted just dig in and eat it now, but I strongly recommend the arugula. I love arugula, especially on flatbreads like this. And not only that, but doesn’t it make it look purrty?
All you need to do now is slice it up and chow down. You’ll love this, your belly will love this. I know you want to try it, now run off to the kitchen and make yourself this for a snack.
