Ingredients

Filling

  • 3 pound apples such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious
  • ¼ cup sugar granulated
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed

Topping

  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter melted, unsalted (1 stick)

Instructions

  • Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or spray it with cooking spray.
  • Make the filling: Peel and core the apples into ½ inch pieces. Place them in a large bowl and toss them with the remaining filling ingredients: sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon juice. Toss well then pour into the prepared baking dish.
  • Make the topping: Combine all the topping ingredients in a bowl and mix until fully incorporated and pea-sized lumps are formed. Top the apples with the topping mixture evenly.
  • Bake: Transfer the baking dish to the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes until bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  • Serve: Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
