Filling
- 3 pound apples such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious
- ¼ cup sugar granulated
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon ground
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
Topping
- 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
- ½ cup brown sugar packed
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup butter melted, unsalted (1 stick)
Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or spray it with cooking spray.
Make the filling: Peel and core the apples into ½ inch pieces. Place them in a large bowl and toss them with the remaining filling ingredients: sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon juice. Toss well then pour into the prepared baking dish.
Make the topping: Combine all the topping ingredients in a bowl and mix until fully incorporated and pea-sized lumps are formed. Top the apples with the topping mixture evenly.
Bake: Transfer the baking dish to the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes until bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
