Oven Baked Shrimp

We're going back to basics with this Oven Baked Shrimp recipe! Requiring only 4 ingredients total, you can have juicy, succulent shrimp ready in under 15 minutes!

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Make sure the rack is in the middle position.
  • Prep Shrimp: Add the shrimp to a large bowl and pat it dry with paper towels. Drizzle the olive oil over the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Toss well, making sure the shrimp is fully coated, add more oil if needed.
  • Bake: Arrange the shrimp on a baking sheet or casserole dish in a single layer. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until the shrimp turns white, pink and opaque.
  • Serve: Serve immediately garnished with lemon wedges.


  1. Keep an eye on your shrimp, you don't want to overcook them and make them rubbery!
  2. You don't need to line your baking sheet. Since the shrimp are tossed in the olive oil, there's no need for excess.
  3. Play around with different combinations of seasoning etc. to make the shrimp flavored to your liking.
  4. I always recommend using fresh shrimp, but if you do use frozen, just make sure the shrimp is fully thawed and remove any excess water before baking!
  5. In the fridge this recipe will keep for 3 – 4 days in an airtight container, so feel free to make them ahead of time!
  6. You can freeze the shrimp from this recipe for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
