Forget the grill, this Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Breast gives you all the saucy, smoky goodness you love in a fraction of the time. Juicy on the inside, caramelized on the outside, and made with a simple homemade BBQ sauce that’s big on flavor and low on fuss.

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  • Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and black pepper.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Spray the air fryer basket with vegetable oil spray.
  • Place the chicken breasts in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook the chicken breasts in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) on a meat thermometer.
  • Brush the chicken breasts with the BBQ sauce mixture during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, flipping them once to coat.
  • Remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Don’t skip the rest! Letting the chicken rest after cooking makes a huge difference in juiciness.
  2. Chicken swaps: Boneless thighs or drumsticks work too, just adjust the time.
  3. Make it spicy: Add extra cayenne or a splash of hot sauce if you're into heat.
  4. Sauce tip: Save a little extra sauce for dipping, future you will thank you.
  5. Oven instructions included in post if you’re still air fryer-free (but seriously,  get one).
