Pro Tip

When crafting these delightful Strawberry Nutella Wontons, try to avoid overstuffing them! A teaspoon of that luscious Nutella and a couple of strawberry pieces are just enough to create that perfect bite. This way, you’ll ensure a tight seal, keeping that sweet goodness inside, and you’ll avoid any messy leaks during the cooking process.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Wonton Wrappers: These create the crispy, golden shell that holds all the goodness inside. If you can’t find any, egg roll wrappers cut into smaller squares work well too!
  • Nutella: This creamy, chocolaty hazelnut spread adds richness and sweetness. If you need an alternative, any chocolate hazelnut spread or even peanut butter will do the trick!
  • Strawberries: They bring freshness and a juicy, sweet tang to balance the richness of Nutella. Feel free to swap them out for raspberries or slices of banana for a different fruity twist!
  • Egg (for sealing): It acts as the ‘glue’ to seal the wontons tight. No egg? No problem! A bit of water works as a great adhesive too.
  • Oil (for frying): It gives the wontons that irresistible golden crispiness. Vegetable, canola, or peanut oil are all excellent choices for frying.

How To Make Strawberry Nutella Wontons

You won’t believe how easy and fun it is to make these Strawberry Nutella Wontons. It’s basically a joyful journey of wrapping little gifts of sweetness!

Prep The Wontons

Alright, so let’s start with laying out our wonton wrappers. Grab a little spoon and place a dollop of Nutella and a couple of strawberry pieces in the center of each one. Remember, we don’t want to overstuff them; it’s all about that perfect bite!

Sealing The Deal

Assembled wontons ready for cooking

Next up, we’re going to seal them. Crack that egg and give it a good whisk. Brush the edges of the wrappers with the egg – it’s like the glue keeping all the sweet goodness inside. Then, fold them over to create a triangle, and press the edges together. Ensure they’re sealed well to avoid any sneaky leaks.

Let’s Get Frying

Now, let’s bring them to life! Heat up some oil in a pan until it’s nice and hot, but not smoking. Drop the wontons in carefully – we don’t want any oil splashes! Fry them until they’re golden and crispy; it’ll only take a couple of minutes. Once they’re ready, scoop them out and let them cool on a paper towel.

And there you have it! Serve these crispy delights while they’re hot and watch the faces light up around the table. I like to sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top – it adds an extra touch of sweetness!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bake these wontons instead of frying them?

Absolutely! Just preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), place the wontons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake them for about 10-12 minutes or until they’re golden and crispy. It’s a great alternative if you’re looking to cut down on oil!

Can I use a different fruit with Nutella?

For sure! Feel free to switch things up. Bananas, raspberries, or even sliced peaches would pair wonderfully with the Nutella. Just be mindful of the moisture content; you don’t want soggy wontons!

Can I use store-bought chocolate sauce instead of Nutella?

Yes, you can! If you prefer chocolate sauce or any other chocolate spread, go for it. Just be cautious with the amount as it might be runnier than Nutella.

Can I prepare these wontons in advance?

You bet! You can assemble the wontons a few hours before cooking; just make sure to cover them with a damp cloth and refrigerate to prevent them from drying out. Fry or bake them right before serving to enjoy that crispy goodness!

Expert Tips

  1. Seal Them Tight: Properly sealing the wontons is crucial to avoid any leakage during frying. Don’t overstuff them, and make sure to press the edges firmly. Using a bit of water or egg wash around the edges can help in sealing them tight.
  2. Keep the Wontons Covered: After assembling, cover your wontons with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out until you’re ready to cook them. This keeps them fresh and pliable!
  3. Control the Heat: Maintaining the right oil temperature is key. Too hot, and your wontons will burn; too cool, and they’ll be greasy. A cooking thermometer can be your best friend to keep that oil temperature in check.
  4. Fry in Batches: Avoid overcrowding the pan when frying the wontons. This ensures even cooking and prevents them from sticking together. Patience is the key to crispy perfection!
  5. Use Fresh Strawberries: Fresh strawberries give the best flavor and texture. If you’re in a pinch and only have frozen, make sure to thoroughly thaw and drain them to avoid excess moisture in your wontons.

Storage

If you find yourself with leftovers, simply place them in an airtight container and keep them at room temperature. They’ll stay crispy and delicious for a day or so. If you’re looking to extend their life, you can pop them in the fridge, but remember to reheat them in the oven to bring back that delightful crunch.

Now, if you’re wondering about freezing, I’d advise against it. The strawberries and Nutella might not maintain their charming textures and flavors once thawed. It’s best to enjoy these wontons fresh and share the joy with friends and family, so nothing goes to waste!

Each bite is a symphony of flavors and textures, a delightful dance of sweet and crunchy that’s impossible to resist.

Ingredients

  • 28 wonton wrappers
  • 28 teaspoons nutella
  • 1 cup strawberries (cut up in small pieces)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • powdered sugar (for sprinkling)

Before You Begin! If you make this, please leave a review and rating letting us know how you liked this recipe! This helps our business thrive & continue providing free recipes.

Instructions

  • Lay out the wanton wrappers on the table and in the middle of each one drop a teaspoon of nutella and abut 1 tsp of strawberries.
  • Dip your finger in water and carefully run it across the edge of the wanton wrapper. Then carefully pull one half over the other, making a triangle and press the edge together, making sure the sides are sealed properly. Take the two sides and bring them up and wrap them over each other, using more water if necessary.
  • Heat the oil on medium to high heat. It needs to reach about 375℉.
  • Fry the wantons a few at a time, for about 2 to 3 minutes each.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy.

Notes

  1. Wonton Wrappers: You can typically find wonton wrappers in the refrigerated section of your grocery store, usually near tofu and other specialty items. If unavailable, egg roll wrappers cut into smaller squares can be a suitable substitute.
  2. Nutella: Feel free to be generous with the Nutella, but be careful not to overstuff as it could cause the wontons to burst during frying.
  3. Sealing the Wontons: Ensure the edges are well-sealed to avoid leakage. A touch of water or egg wash can assist in sealing the wrappers effectively.
  4. Frying Temperature: Maintaining a consistent oil temperature is crucial for achieving the perfect crispness. Utilize a cooking thermometer to monitor the oil temperature accurately.
  5. Serving Suggestion: These wontons are best enjoyed immediately while they are warm and crispy. Consider serving them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
