The Best Garlic Butter Steak Bites Recipe

You know what’s better than a 30 Minute Recipe? A 15 Minute Recipe! Seriously! This 15 Minute Recipe is for the meat lovers out there! Lots of delicious steak bites smothered in a yummy garlic butter sauce! Have I piqued  your interest yet?

You know what else? It’s all in one skillet! I live in Alberta, so we love our steak here and I’m no exception. I love a good steak, but I also love steak bites, because they’re so full of flavor and so easy to prepare. These bite size pieces of steak look fancy if you’re throwing a party, just spear them with toothpicks and watch them disappear.

  • Quick and Easy: My Garlic Butter Steak Bites recipe is perfect for those busy days when you need a delicious meal without spending hours in the kitchen. With minimal ingredients and a short cooking time, this dish comes together in a snap, leaving you more time to enjoy your meal and relax.
  • Flavorful and Satisfying: The combination of tender, juicy steak bites with the rich, garlicky butter sauce creates a mouthwatering dish that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. This dish packs an incredible flavor punch, proving that simple ingredients can result in a truly scrumptious meal.
  • Versatile Serving Options: These Garlic Butter Steak Bites are not only delicious on their own, but they can also be served in a variety of ways. Pair them with a fresh salad for a lighter meal, or serve them alongside your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or rice.

Ingredients You’ll Need

ingredients needed to make garlic butter steak bites.
  • Garlic – the more the better. If you know me you know I love my garlic so go nuts!
  • Butter – I always use unsalted because this way I can control the salt in all my recipes.
  • Steak – I love using a sirloin steak in this recipe and cut it into small pieces. Sirloin packs a lot of flavor and it’s pretty tender, but still affordable.
  • Olive Oil – extra virgin.
  • Salt & Pepper – to season to your liking.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – for a little bit of heat, so if you want it mild, just skip the pepper flakes.
  • Parsley – I always love to garnish everything with a little bit of parsley because it makes the dish look so much better. We eat with our eyes first!

How To Make Garlic Butter Steak Bites

Garlic Butter Steak Bites process shots

Garlic butter steak bites couldn’t be any easier. The secret though, is to use a really hot skillet, because you don’t want to overcook the steak. The steak bites really only require about 4 to 5 minutes, if the skillet is hot enough.

My other secret is to not stir the steak bites for the first 1 or 2 minutes, let it get a nice sear from the skillet. I also like to cook the garlic butter separately because I don’t want to add it with the steak, so that the garlic doesn’t burn. Then all that’s left to do is pour the garlic butter over the steak and serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cut of steak should I use for this recipe?

Sirloin, ribeye, or strip steak are all great choices for this recipe due to their tenderness and flavor. Trim any excess fat before cutting the steak into bite-sized pieces.

How can I tell when the steak bites are cooked to my desired doneness?

The cooking time will vary depending on the size of your steak bites and your preferred level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, and 155°F for medium-well.

Can I add vegetables to this recipe?

Yes, you can add vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, or cherry tomatoes to the pan while cooking the steak bites. Adjust the cooking time accordingly to ensure the vegetables are cooked through.

Expert Tips

  1. Make sure to pat the steak dry with paper towels before cutting into bite-sized pieces. This helps the steak to brown nicely and develop a delicious crust.
  2. Preheat the pan before adding the steak bites to ensure a good sear and even cooking.
  3. Cook the steak bites in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, which can lead to steaming instead of browning.
  4. Allow the steak bites to rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain their juices and ensure a tender, flavorful result.

What To Serve Steak Bites With

Serve these with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, pasta or zucchini noodles for a healthier option, or just with some crusty bread to soak up that garlic butter.

However, they are perfect as an appetizer. Stick some toothpicks in them and watch how fast they go!

Storage

Store leftover steak bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them gently in a skillet over low heat or in the microwave to retain their tenderness and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1½ pound sirloin steak (cut into bite size pieces, or strip loin, tenderloin, strip steak or rib eye)

  • ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (unsalted)

Instructions

  • Add the olive oil to a large skillet and heat it over high heat. Make sure the olive oil is hot, then add the steak pieces to it. Season them generously with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for at least 2 minutes before stirring the steak pieces. You want to make sure you get a good sear on them. Continue cooking for another 2 minutes until they’re golden brown. If your skillet isn’t big enough, you may need to do this batches.
  • Transfer the steak bites to a plate and in the same skillet add the butter. Turn the heat down to a medium and after the butter has melted, add the garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 30 seconds while stirring, just until the garlic becomes aromatic and starts to brown.
  • Pour the garlic butter over the steak bites and toss well. Garnish with parsley and serve.

So good! Great quick Saturday night dinner! My husband just told he thinks it is great! I did marinate my steaks first, I think next time I am not going to do that. But definitely 5 stars!

If I use stew meat, I think I would have to cook it slow and low. Any suggestions?

I haven’t made this recipe with stew meat, but yes, I think you’d need to cook it slow and over low heat for a while until tender. Let me know how they turn out for you.

Making these tonight. Love that I can separate out the bites from medium/well for different people. I added a little hot honey to the butter for a sweet/spicy!! Looks amazing. Taste amazing. All I had in the freezer was a couple lbs of butcher cut tip steak left. Can definitely make this with any beef 💙
