Strawberry Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing

Happy weekend! I'm so happy the weekend is here, it's been a busy week at work so today I had to unwind. I do this by baking. I've been wanting to make these strawberry rolls for a while now and today was the perfect day for them. The hand model bought me these gorgeous strawberries and they're so delicious and sweet. I for one love cinnamon rolls but the hand model has had enough of them, I admit I make them a lot. I've made cherry rolls before and I loved them, and I've made cinnabons … [Read more...]

Strawberry Scones

I've been making a lot of scones lately, I admit it. But I just love them! My goal is to make scones with all the fruits out there. I still have lots of fruits I haven't tried, believe you me! Strawberries, oh how beautiful they are. I find that fruits and animals photograph great, no double chins there. How did I get on this topic? Back to strawberries, oh strawberries, how beautiful they are, and sweet and tart and delicious, and such a pretty red color. Hubby bought these gigantic … [Read more...]

Apple Cinnamon Scones

Fresh apple cinnamon scones, right out of the oven. If you love yourself, and your significant other, you will make these, and have them for breakfast every morning this week. With a good cup of Joe. That's what I did this past week. There's nothing more homey than a fresh baked scone. I love the smell of apples and cinnamon baking, whether it's in a pie or these beautiful scones. Now I don't know if you're like me, but baking is my passion. And NO I would not want to bake for a bakery … [Read more...]

Greek Savory Cheese Pie

We all have our weaknesses when it comes to food, cheese pies are my weakness. For some reason cheese pies are not so popular in North America, they're more of a European treat, which makes me really sad because savory cheese pies are to die for. I have a few versions of cheese pies here and this version here is a Greek Savory Cheese Pie with bechamel sauce. Cheese pies are so amazing, you simply have to try one and you will fall in love.  Although they're not so popular here, I grew up … [Read more...]

Day 12: Pistachio Baklava

Welcome to day 12 of 12 days of Christmas! I think I've saved the best for last. I know it's not a cookie recipe, but it's one of my favorites, pistachio baklava. I love all baklava, but pistachio is my favorite. There's just something about pistachios, they are my favorite nuts. Maybe it's the saltiness that I like so much but I could snack on them all the time. You can find them at Costco a lot cheaper than in most other stores. Trust me I know, we were looking for them … [Read more...]

Banana Buzz Scones

I keep saying this is my favorite time of the year and it is, except when it's so freaking cold! It's been like really cold here, over -30 C with the wind chill, for my American friends that's really really cold, like hibernation cold. Like you step outside and the hair in your nostrils freeze kind of cold. Like when you step outside of your warm house and take a breath outside you choke when the cold air hits your lungs. And not only is it so freaking cold, we've had a ton of snow, like so much … [Read more...]

Cheddar Cheese Buttermilk Biscuits

buttermilk biscuits-1-3

It's been a very busy and stressful week at work and when I get worked up like this, my favorite thing to do is to bake. Baking really relaxes me. What better thing to bake than these delicious cheddar cheese buttermilk biscuits. These biscuits are so tender, flaky, cheesy and they smell heavenly. I had them with my eggplant salad, but you can have them with a cup of coffee so they are perfect for breakfast, or they would be great with some jam or even just plain. I really urge you to try these, … [Read more...]

Lemon Blueberry Scones

lemon blueberry scones-1-4

I love this time of year, it's great when it comes to finding all kinds of fruits  and berries. Now you can find lots of blueberries and strawberries at pretty decent prices. So I bought lots of berries this weekend, among which included a whole lot of blueberries. Since then I've made blueberry shakes, I put blueberries on pancakes, and of course one must bake with blueberries. Which is what I did. I, for one, love scones. There's nothing better than a delicious berry scone fresh right out … [Read more...]

Nutella Pecan Scones

nutella scones-1-4

Ah Nutella! I was first introduced to nutella when I was a kid, maybe 10 years old. Well ever since then it's been a love affair. I love nutella any way you serve it to me. I love it on bread, I love it with breadsticks, with fruits, stuffed in wontons with fruits, over ice cream, in a sandwich with bananas, stuffed in donuts, and of course plain. I love nutella and that's all there is to it. Whew I'm glad that's out of the way. Now way back I know I said the perfect combination would be a … [Read more...]

Cherry Jam Filled Sour Cream Donuts

Look out people! These pictures might make you drool and lick your monitors! But that's OK, I say! And at the risk of using too many exclamation marks, you will not regret these donuts if you make them! But why am I making something sweet again? It's simple my friends, our lives need to be a little sweeter, because sweet things make us happy and we all want to be happy. So now that I've established why I made these let me just tell you a little bit about these gorgeous golden donuts. … [Read more...]

Crepes (Clatite)

Well this is my favorite dessert ever, probably because as a child I ate this a lot. I've been making these for as long as I can remember.  They are easy to make, and the best part is that you can fill them with anything you like.  My favorite filling is nutella, or just any plain old jam, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, apricot, whatever you have in your fridge.  I'm making them now because my husband bought this great blueberry Saskatoon jam, and it would be a waste not to make some crepes … [Read more...]
