This BBQ Chicken and Feta Pizza transforms your ordinary pizza night into a gourmet delight. Bursting with layers of savory chicken, indulgent bacon, and the tang of feta, it’s bound to become a household favorite.
This BBQ Chicken and Feta Pizza redefines indulgence. Each bite boasts smoky chicken and crisp bacon, perfectly offset by the tangy feta and fresh veggies. It’s not just a meal, but a tantalizing experience that leaves you craving another slice.
- Pizza Dough: The foundation of our pizza, providing a chewy canvas for the toppings. You can use my recipe to make your own pizza dough or, you can use store-bought flatbreads or a gluten-free crust for dietary preferences.
- BBQ Sauce: Brings a smoky sweetness as the base layer of flavor. In its absence, consider a mixture of ketchup and a dash of liquid smoke or a tangy marinara sauce. Make your own bbq sauce using my recipe here.
- Chicken Breasts: Serve as the primary protein, lending meatiness to each bite. Tofu strips or turkey slices can be good alternatives.
- Bacon: Adds a salty, savory crunch to complement the chicken. If bacon isn’t on hand or preferred, smoked turkey or even prosciutto can be used.
- Feta Cheese: Offers a briny and creamy contrast to the BBQ sauce. Goat cheese or crumbled blue cheese can stand in for feta.
- Tomatoes: Introduce freshness and juiciness. If fresh tomatoes aren’t available, sun-dried tomatoes or bell peppers can be used.
- Mushrooms: Provide an earthy depth of flavor. Zucchini or eggplant slices can be an apt substitute.
- Kalamata Olives: Give a salty bite and Mediterranean flair. Black or green olives, or even capers, could replace them.
How To Make BBQ Chicken And Feta Pizza
Start off by rolling out your pizza dough and placing it on your pizza dish. Next I used store bought barbecue sauce but feel free to make your own. Spread the bbq sauce over the entire pizza.
Now I took 2 skinless chicken breasts, cut them in small strips and stir fried them with just salt and pepper until cooked. You’ll need about 1/2 cup of sliced kalamata olives.
I also fried about 8 strips of bacon and chopped them up.
To the pizza add about 1 cup of crumbled up feta cheese.
Next add the chicken and the bacon to the pizza and arrange it nicely.
Finish off the toppings on the pizza by adding the mushrooms, olives, and tomatoes. Then I added the remainder cup of feta cheese over the top.
Bake at 500 F degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes and you have a beauty.
Expert Tips
- Chicken Tenderness: To ensure juicy chicken pieces, avoid overcooking during the stir fry process. Remember, it’ll cook further in the oven. A quick sear to lock in the flavors is all you need.
- Crispy Bacon: For an extra crunchy texture, consider baking the bacon strips in the oven on a wire rack. This method renders the fat better and results in uniformly crispy bacon every time.
- Mushroom Moisture: When cooking the mushrooms, let them sauté until most of their moisture is released and evaporated. This prevents the pizza from becoming soggy.

Instructions
- Season your chicken with salt and pepper then stir fry the chicken in a bit of oil.
- Fry the bacon then chop it up.
- Preheat oven to 500℉.
- After rolling out the pizza dough, add the bbq sauce by spreading it evenly over the dough.
- Add ½ the feta cheese, then the chicken and bacon. Add the olives, mushrooms, tomato slices and finish off with the remainder of the feta cheese.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until done.
Notes
- Dough Thickness: Depending on your preference, you can roll out the dough to a thin crust for a crisper bite or leave it slightly thicker for a chewy center.
- Oven Variation: Oven temperatures can vary, so start checking your pizza around the 15-minute mark to ensure it doesn’t overcook.
- Feta Cheese: If feta is too strong for your taste, a milder cheese like mozzarella or goat cheese can be used as a substitute, but note that it’ll change the overall flavor profile.
- Additional Toppings: Feel free to toss on some fresh arugula or basil after baking for a fresh, peppery bite.
- Storage: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat slices in the oven or a skillet for a fresh-from-the-oven taste.

What a great recipe! Wondered about kalamata olives with bbq sauce, but it was all great. Added some sauteed onions and used a Boboli crust. Thanks for the great recipe!
