I love finding new ways to use my air fryer, and the air fryer is perfect for making pork chops. This trendy appliance is most often used for de-oiling our favorite crispy recipes, but not often enough for casual dinner time favorites. These pork chops are so easy and delicious, comfort food made in a flash!

Air Fryer Pork Chops

  • Easy To Make
  • Simple Ingredient List
  • No Excess Grease
  • Delicious Comfort Food

This has become a new goal in my culinary world! Use the air fryer more! It’s something many will use once or twice, then let sit and collect dust in the back of the pantry. Don’t let this wonderful gadget go to waste! Clear up space in your oven or on the stove-top. Let that air fryer do some of the hard work for you.

Ingredient Notes

overhead shot of ingredients needed to make pork chops in the air fryer.
  • Pork chops – I used boneless pork chops, about ¾-1″ thick each. Adjust the cooking time if you use a different thickness, or chops with bones.
  • Olive oil – Other types you can use are grapeseed, canola, vegetable, sunflower, safflower, or avocado oils. You just need a bit of olive oil to brush over the pork chops.
  • Parmesan cheese – I always prefer freshly grated. You can skip this ingredient, but I love the flavor the cheese adds, plus it aids in making them a bit crispy on the outside.
  • Spices – Smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder. Adjust the amounts if you’d like.

How To Make Air Fryer Pork Chops

process shots showing how to prep pork chops.
  1. Prep: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Brush the pork chops with the olive oil on all sides.
  2. Season: Whisk the Parmesan cheese with the rest of the ingredients in a bowl. Dredge each pork chop through the Parmesan mixture.
  3. Cook: Place the pork chops in the air fryer. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Check the internal temperature of the pork chops. When they reach 145°F, they are cooked through.
  4. Rest: Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving.

FAQs & Expert Tips

FAQs

How Do I Tell If My Pork Chops Are Fully Cooked?

If you’re a loyal reader, you’ll know by this point how much I swear by my instant-read digital thermometer when it comes to cooking meats. They’re inexpensive, easy to find, and will make a world of difference when it comes to cooking meat! No more guesswork here. The thermometer will read 145°F inserted in the thickest part of the middle of the chop. Make sure to test a different spot each time.

What If I Don’t Have An Instant Read Thermometer?

Touch test: Touch your thumb and pinkie finger together. Press the fleshy part beneath your thumb. This is what a cooked pork chop will feel like. Use your tongs or spatula to touch the pork avoid burning your finger if the chops are quite hot.
Slice test: Remove the chops from the air fryer when you think they are done. Let them rest for 3 minutes. Slice into the middle of the chop. If it is white all the way through with a very slight tinge of pink in the middle, the chops are done.

How To Serve

Choose your favorite sides to finish creating a gorgeous dinner!

a serving platter with 4 pork chops.

Tips

  1. Worried about underdone pork? Let the chops warm up at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Grab smoked paprika! It may be tempting to use the regular paprika already in your pantry.
  3. Make sure the pork chops fit nicely in the air fryer – no stacking. If your air fryer is small, you can cook in batches.
  4. Remember to flip the chops halfway through the cooking process for a beautiful sear on both sides.
  5. Get yourself an instant-read digital thermometer to take the temperature of the pork.
  6. Let the pork rest for 3-5 minutes before digging in.

Leftovers

Transfer the leftover pork chops to an airtight container and store in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Freezing

You can also store the cooked pork in the freezer for 2-6 months. Make sure the pork has fully cooled down to room temperature before storing.

Reheating

Add a splash of water or broth to a roasting pan equipped with a rack. Place the chops on the rack and cover the pan with foil. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes until the pork has warmed through.

    Hello Jo,
I have made many, many of your various recipes.
    Delicious!
I have not entered the world of Air Fryers. Can you tell me anything that you like about them, and any brand you might suggest. Not trying to get an
    endorsement…..just soo much to consider!
    Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Anne! I have the Ninja Foodi which has many functions, about 8, and that’s why I love that one. I just ordered another air fryer, GoWISE USA but I haven’t received it yet. We’ll see which one is better. 🙂
