Homemade Hawaiian pizza, easy to make and once you try it, you’ll never order pizza again. Homemade and fresh with bacon!

Close up shot of Hawaiian Pizza

Lately we’ve been making pizza pretty much every weekend and I have to say once you start making pizza at home, you will never order pizza again. You have control over all the ingredients that go on your pizza so you can’t beat that. If you’re afraid of making the pizza dough, don’t be, it’s very simple. I’ve been using my simple recipe for making pizza dough and the great thing about this recipe is that it makes enough pizza dough for 2 large pizzas or 3 medium size pizzas. So you make the dough once and you’re good for a couple weekends.

I won’t go over the details on making the pizza dough here, because you can review this recipe for step by step instructions. If you have left over pizza dough, just freeze it until the next time you’re ready to use it. To that pizza dough recipe you can add herbs as well if you so desire, for example in our pizza dough today we added some oregano and a bit of honey. Now I don’t know how to throw the dough up in the air, so I just use a rolling pin to roll out the dough then arrange it nicely on the pizza tray.

prepared Pizza crust

This Hawaiian Pizza we did was a pretty typical Hawaiian pizza. We fried some nice bacon and cut it up in pieces and we chopped up some ham in cubes.

A bowl of bacon and chopped ham

Next I chopped some pineapple in cubes as well and we also wanted some nice shiitake mushrooms thrown on the pizza.

A bowl of mushrooms and pineapple

The next step is a lot of fun. First spread some pizza sauce over the pizza dough, as much as you like. Then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, add the bacon, ham, pineapple and mushrooms.

Assembled uncooked pizza.

I also sprinkled some basil on top for color. Isn’t it gorgeous? Now here’s the secret, the pizza needs to bake at very high temperatures. So make sure you preheat your oven well at 500 F degrees, that’s the highest my oven will go to. Bake for about 10 minutes, make sure you watch it because it could burn very quickly.

Finished Hawaiian Pizza

And now you get to eat it, best part of it all. It’s so much fun making your own pizza at home, you can get as creative as you want. I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know how your home made pizza turned out.

My daughter is now in her pineapple fetish stage such that she wants everything with pineapples. I don’t get worried because if I can’t find the fresh ones in the produce lanes, I can always go canned…
Hawaiian pizza? Definitely! She’ll love this. thanks for sharing!
