Healthier Beef Chili

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I’m so very thankful to all my loyal readers. It’s because of you that I keep this blog going. I love to read all your comments and I thank you all for all your support.

Since it’s not Thanksgiving in Canada, no turkey roast here, but I do have a hearty chili recipe to share with you that is just to die for! For the longest time I used to be afraid of making chili, but it’s really one of the easiest recipes you can make. You basically throw everything in the pot and then simmer if for about 45 minutes. This would actually be an ideal recipe to make in a slow cooker.

I made this chili a bit healthier by using very little olive oil and lean ground beef. Of course you could always swap the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for an even healthier chili.

Hi Jo! I’m so excited to make your chili recipe below. I’m meal prepping and would love to know approximately how many cups of soup are in each serving of this?

I don’t usually measure it out that way, so it’s hard to give you exact cups, but I would guesstimate around 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups per serving.

My family really doesn’t like spicy, so can I either not use the chipotle peppers or use a very little bit of it? Idk of it will change the flavor or not! Help lol

You can leave them out! Use some smoked paprika instead.

You included nutrition information but no mention of serving size? Am I blind? What is it in grams?

There are 10 servings in this recipe. The nutritional info is calculated using the caloric content of the ingredients in the recipe card divided by the servings- it is not measured in weight.

I added I/2 red pepper, chopped, 1/8 tsp smoked paprika, and dash of red pepper flakes. I left out the steak sauce. Best chili ever.

Lol, I’m already planning my cookie recipes, can’t wait. You’ll love this chili, it’s so good and if you really like spicy food add more chipotle peppers. 🙂

I’m the first to comment. How exciting. I aways wonder does ground chicken brown as beef does? ie in crumb like appearance? By steak sauce I presume you mean brown sauce? I remember way way back to England we had OK sauce and Daddy’s.
I hope you had a good thanksgiving.
I didn’t light the hannukkah candles but I suspect we will tonight.
    Bye.

I’ve used ground chicken before in chili and it browns just as well. Not sure what brown sauce is, we call it steak sauce like A1. Happy Hannukkah!
