These delicious Sugar Pecans are an easy snack made with staple ingredients you’ll already have on hand in your kitchen! 5 minutes of prep and you’ll be well on your way to enjoying these perfectly spiced, sweet, and crunchy pecans.

Easy Sugar Pecans Recipe

Sometimes it’s the simplest recipes that make me the happiest. Now, I may be a little biased as pecans are my favorite nut, but this has to be the best snack! These brown sugar coated pecans are crunchy, sweet, and buttery, with a hint of warm, spicy, cinnamon. With these babies taking only a total of 30 minutes to bake, I can neither confirm or deny if I have eaten an entire batch in one sitting.

Why Make These Sugar Pecans

  • Easy To Make
  • Takes Just 35 Minutes Total
  • Simple Ingredient List
  • Perfect For The Holidays
  • Versatile
  • Can Be Made In Advance

This easy treat may read as a perfect table top snack for the holidays, which it is, however I am happy to have these out any time of the year! Made with just a handful of kitchen staple ingredients, these sugar pecans are so simple and delicious. Guests love them, my husband loves them, I love them. It’s a win for everyone!

Ingredient Notes

  • Butter – Salted or unsalted.
  • Egg whites – Fresh or from a carton.
  • Sugar – I used both granulated sugar and brown sugar.
  • Cinnamon – Ground.
  • Pecans – Halved.

How To Make Sugar Pecans

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Pour the butter and spread it over a baking sheet.
  2. Toss: In a large bowl, mix the egg whites, sugar and cinnamon. Add the pecan halves and toss until they are fully coated.
  3. Bake: Spread the pecans onto the baking sheet evenly. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring the pecans every 10 minutes. Check after 20 minutes of baking to make sure they don’t burn. Cool on the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Can I Use Other Nuts

As you now know, pecans are my absolute favorite. The cracks and crevices hold onto this sugary mixture so well to give you maximum crunch. That being said, you’re free to experiment with other types of nuts! Try: Walnuts, Almonds, Cashews, or Peanuts! Keep in mind that different nuts will give you slightly different results. If you use a different type, make sure to keep a close eye on them as they bake.

How Do You Serve These Sugar Pecans?

While I enjoy these by the handful as a snack, these can also be used to top desserts, or to make delicious sundaes! They are ideal to give for holiday gifts as well!

Expert Tip

Try out different spices! I used a simple cinnamon spice blend, but you can try other spices such as Cloves, nutmeg, and ginger, or go for a spicier alternative with Chili powder, Cayenne and Black pepper! You can mix and match to create a new, fun batch every time.

Storing

Make sure the sugar pecans have fully cooled down to room temperature before storing. You can leave them covered or uncovered at room temperature for 1 week.

Freezing

If you store them in the fridge or freezer, it’s best to seal them in an airtight container or freezer bag. They will last 3 weeks in the fridge or 2 months frozen.

They’re a fantastic treat straight from the freezer! Otherwise, you can spread them out flat on the counter, a plate, or cutting board. They’ll thaw completely in 10-20 minutes.

Absolutely amazing. My stove has a convection bake feature that I used. It cuts 8 mins off cook time

The first batch was too sticky had to put it back in the oven additional 10 min. So, I cooked that batch for total of 40min. The other two batches came out perfect.
