Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

The Air Fryer never ceases to amaze me when it comes to what you can cook in it. It really seems like there is no limit. I’ve shown you how you can make hard boiled eggs in your Instant Pot, but believe it or not, it’s even easier to cook them in your air fryer. It couldn’t get any easier than this.

You simply add your eggs to the basket, turn your air fryer on and let it do its thing. It’s also great because you can make many eggs at once, and you’ve got eggs to enjoy throughout the week, making them perfect for meal prepping.

Why You Should Make Hard Boiled Eggs In The Air Fryer

  • Easier Than Any Other Method. It’s seriously as easy as you can get. No waiting around to boil water, no water needed, just place the eggs in the basket, turn on the air fryer and walk away.
  • Perfect For Meal Prep. Cook as many as you like and use throughout the week for different meals. They’re perfect in salads, sandwiches and so much more.
  • Perfect Start To Any Morning. Eggs make the perfect breakfast! Low carb, high protein, incredibly filling and so delicious.

Ingredients You’ll Need

eggs in a carton.
  • Eggs – This is all you need. White or brown eggs, large or small, use your favorites. No boiling water necessary.

How To Hard Boil Eggs In the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 250°F. This may not always be necessary. It depends on your air fryer. I don’t usually preheat mine and I end up with the same results, but it’s best to read your air fryer manual for best instructions.
  2. Hard boil the eggs. Gently place the eggs in the air fryer basket. Set the timer to 13 minutes for softer boiled eggs or 15-17 minutes for hard boiled eggs. The time could vary from air fryer to air fryer.
  3. Cool the eggs and peel. Transfer the eggs to a bowl with ice water and let them sit for 5 minutes. Doing this stops the eggs from cooking further. After 5 minutes peel and enjoy!

How To Peel Hard Boiled Eggs

I know I always struggle peeling eggs, but here are my tips to help you peel them easier.

  1. Lay a piece of paper towel down or work over a plate to make cleanup easier.
  2. Tap the egg lightly in a few different spots around the circumference to break the shell.
  3. Hold the egg and use your thumbs to gently peel back the shell without damaging the white. You can also insert a spoon between the shell and the egg, after cracking it, and start moving the spoon around until the shell is separated from the egg.

Expert Tips

  1. Make sure your eggs don’t have any cracks in them when placing them in the air fryer basket. Also be gentle with them as you place them in the basket so they don’t crack.
  2. Slightly older eggs are easier to peel than fresh eggs. In an older egg, the inner membrane is less likely to bond to the egg white, so the shell peels off much easier.
  3. Place your eggs in an ice bath or cold water to stop the cooking process, especially if you like your egg yolk softer. Doing this also helps eggs peel easier.

Storing Hard Boiled Eggs

I like to keep my eggs in the shells to keep them as fresh as possible. Keep the eggs in the fridge up to 1 week before discarding. I don’t recommend storing hard boiled eggs in the freezer as they will have an odd consistency after thawing.
