Maple Mustard Glazed Salmon – 4 ingredients turn this salmon into a super star. A healthy and delicious salmon, glazed with maple syrup and grainy mustard.
I should add super simple to the title of this recipe because that’s just what this is. But first of all, let me start off by saying that I’m not a huge fish fan, although I had a period when I used to eat a lot of salmon, well a lot more than I do now. Whenever I’d go to a restaurant I’d always order salmon and I really liked it because it’s light and healthy and filling. But as with all my other phases they end after a period of time and I move on to the next best thing.
But being on my forever quest to eat healthier I bought a beautiful piece of salmon fillet from my local grocery store. It was just gorgeous. But I have to be honest with you and to tell you how I came about this. I don’t watch much TV simply because I have no time, but whenever I do, it’s always House Hunters, and I’ve been seeing this commercial for Becel margarine with a couple bears looking through a kitchen window where the woman was preparing this salmon recipe with becel margarine, maple syrup, and some grainy mustard. I was intrigued.
I was intrigued because of how good the salmon looked and how simple it was. So that’s the reason I picked up this beautiful piece of salmon fillet. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a recipe from a commercial before but here you have it. I did not use margarine though, simply because I’m not a margarine fan, so I used butter instead, but feel free to use margarine if you want.
But the recipe, OMG, so easy, you simply whisk the melted butter with the maple syrup, grainy mustard and some soy sauce and pour it over the fish. Even kids could do this. As a matter of fact, this would be a great recipe to teach your kids how to make, it’s healthy, easy and delicious.
Needless to say, when I took this salmon out of the oven, it smelled heavenly and the fish looked so good. It was very difficult for me to wait to try it as I had to take pictures of it first and so I rushed through the photography shoot just so I can try. The salmon is super flaky, and the flavors are amazing. I am in love with this fish. Luckily hubs was out walking the dog, so I could actually take some pictures, but I did text him a picture of the salmon and sure enough, he was home in a couple minutes. I ate one lonely piece of salmon and he ate the rest. And that sauce was to die for! I just wanted to stick my face in that baking dish and lick it all, but I’m a lady! I would never do such a thing. LOL
Hubs is not a fish fan either, but this salmon was too good to pass. I am definitely making this again, and soon. I wish I would had some dill to sprinkle on it, because I simply love dill and fish together, but I did not, so I garnished it with parsley, it just looks purrty!
So there you have it, a recipe from a commercial that was not a failure, on the contrary it was quite successful and what a pleasant surprise. I would suggest serving this with a side of brown rice and/or some broccoli.
