These Blue Cheese and Steak Crostini are a perfect addition to your holiday party or game day menu. Delicious grilled steak pieces over blue cheese, utterly scrumptious!
This is a simple, rustic little bite that packs so much flavor! This steak is super tender, perfectly grilled, and a great accompaniment to all that crumbled up blue cheese. Blue cheese – the star of the show! You’re either a lover or a hater of the creamy stuff, and we’re all lovers around my house.
Although these crostini are simple to make, they are bursting with flavor. One of my favorite cheeses is of course blue cheese, I love its strong and creamy taste, and yes I even love the smell of it. But I know there are those who absolutely hate blue cheese, but don’t fret. If you can’t stand blue cheese, feel free to use the cheese of your choice, for example goat cheese would be great in this appetizer.
Ingredients
- Steak – Yummy grilled steak cooked to whichever temperature you prefer! Grab whichever cut you’d like
- Bread – French baguette sliced up thin to be toasted. I recommend getting nice fresh bread since we’re keeping this dish pretty simple.
- Cheese – Some Blue cheese crumbled up over top of our crostini. If you’re not a blue cheese fan I’ll include some suggestions below.
- Seasoning – Salt and pepper.
- Herbs – Parsley or chives topped up fresh for garnish.
Not A Blue Cheese Fan?
Totally understandable, it’s just one of those foods that you either love or you hate! If that’s the case then you can definitely make this delicious dish with some of these fan favorites.
- Brie
- Goat cheese
- Herbed cream cheese
How To Make Blue Cheese And Steak Crostini
- Season the steak with salt and pepper. Grill the steak for about 7 minutes per side, if you want medium rare, or longer if you like your steak done more. Let the steak rest for 10 minutes before slicing it into thin slices.
- Bake the bread: Cut the French baguette into 1/2 inch slices, about 1/2 French baguette. Place the bread on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet under the broiler and toast for 1 to 2 minutes per side, watch them as they could burn quickly.
- Assemble: Spread about a tbsp of blue cheese on each bread slice, then top with a couple of steak slices. Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped chives.
Not Grilling Weather?
Regardless of weather, we grill year round, no matter how much snow is out there, it’s always the perfect time for grilling. However if you’re not as adventurous as hubs is and don’t want to freeze your tush off, you can cook this on the stove.
How To Serve
These decadent snacks are perfectly delicious all on their own, enjoyed while comfy and cozy. But if you’d like to add these to a nice big spread, you can’t go wrong serving it alongside these:
Storing Leftovers
Just be sure to keep the bread and the toppings separate till you’re ready to serve, otherwise they’ll get soggy and a little less than appetizing. These toppings will keep for up to 2 days if stored properly in an airtight container in the fridge. This recipe won’t freeze well sadly so make these as you need them!
