Ingredient Notes
- Peanut Butter – Smooth peanut butter works best for this sauce because we want it to have a smooth, creamy texture.
- Soy Sauce – I opt for low sodium to control the salt levels in the sauce!
- Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed is always best, but store bought will work as well!
- Honey – The honey is going to add a nice balance of sweetness to the sauce.
- Chili Sauce – To add a bit of spice and added flavor. You can find this sauce in your local grocery store!

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What Does Peanut Sauce Taste Like?
This sauce has a smooth consistency with a hint of peanut flavor. It is sweet and spicy and an excellent addition to a variety of Thai dishes.
What Can I Use Peanut Sauce For?
Peanut sauce can be used for whatever your heart desires! Use it as a sauce or marinade for chicken, meat and vegetables, add flavor to dishes such as lettuce wraps, noodle bowls or satays, use it as a salad dressing, or as a dipping sauce! It’s an extremely versatile sauce.
Can I Heat Up This Peanut Sauce?
This sauce is great because it’s good either warm or cold. To reheat, pour the peanut sauce into a small pan and heat on low heat, adding a tablespoon or two of water until it reaches the right consistency. I found reheating it in the microwave tends to separate the sauce so I always heat it on the stove!
Tips
- If you’re allergic to peanuts or you’re not a fan of the peanut flavor, you can substitute almond butter or sunflower butter instead!
- If your sauce is too thick for your liking, try thinning it out by stirring in one tablespoon of water at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
Storing
Your sauce will keep for up to a week if refrigerated in an airtight container. Take the sauce out of the fridge about 30 minutes before serving to let it come to room temperature for convenience.
Freezing
Peanut sauce freezes well, so you can make a double or triple batch and freeze the leftovers! Store in an airtight container or freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.

This was soo simple and delicious!! Took me like 5 minutes to make it and I’d say half that time was just trying to peel the ginger without wasting it haha!

Is the chili garlic sauce sweet?
The chili sauce itself isn’t sweet. But when you add the rest of the ingredients, along with the honey – It balances the flavor and adds a smidge of sweet.
