You read that right! My Lasagna Dip recipe is layered with sausage, marinara sauce, and lots of ooey-gooey melty cheese. Made and served all in one skillet, it’s a great addition to any appetizer table. It’s so delicious, you might just want to enjoy it as a meal all on its own!

I’m a sucker for dips. Any opportunity I have to dip what’s in my hand or on my fork, I will happily take. Especially when it’s loaded up with cheese! Three types of cheese to be exact. This recipe is such a beautiful thing.

Bring it to a potluck, or serve it as a starter for a dinner party. No matter how you present it, Ill be very surprised if you have any leftovers in the skillet! It’s just that good. A crowd pleaser like this with such a simple ingredient list? Sign me up!

Ingredients

  • Italian sausage – Either ground sausage or removed from their casings. Make sure they aren’t pre-cooked.
  • Italian seasoning – A salt-free version will work best.
  • Garlic – Use as much or little as you like.
  • Marinara – Feel free to use a homemade version, or your favorite pre-made jar.
  • Cheese – Ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan.
  • Basil – Freshly chopped for garnish.

How to make lasagna dip

  1. Cook the sausage: Add the sausage to a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until the sausage is no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula. Add the Italian seasoning and garlic, then cook for another 30 seconds.
  2. Simmer the dip: Add the marinara sauce, stir well, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 5 minutes. Top with dollops of ricotta cheese, then sprinkle the mozzarella and parmesan evenly to cover the entire surface.
  3. Bake: Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with basil and serve.

What to serve with lasagna dip

I served this dip with some crackers and some fresh baguette, sliced and toasted. It’ll work with chips, or even veggies!

Want to make an appetizer spread? Give these recipes a try with your lasagna dip center piece:

  • Pepperoni Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Toasted Ravioli
  • Pigs in a Blanket
  • Cheesy Cauliflower Tots
  • Crispy Fried Zucchini
  • Italian Skillet Pull Apart Bread

How to store leftovers

Let the dip cool down and transfer it to an airtight container. If there is lots leftover, you can keep it in the skillet and cover well with plastic wrap.

To reheat, you can use the microwave. You can also heat it back up in the skillet at 400F for about 10 minutes, or until heated through.

Can I freeze lasagna dip?

Absolutely! You can freeze leftovers, or you can prep the dip and freeze in right in the skillet to pop into the oven the day you’re ready to serve.

To make this dip ahead, assemble the dip, with all the cheeses, then let the skillet cool down. Cover it well with both plastic wrap and foil and store in the freezer for 2-3 months.

To reheat, remove the plastic wrap, but keep the skillet covered with foil. Bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes or until melty and bubbly.

5 stars
I made this recipe last year for The Super Bowl. Just to try something new. It was a hit! This year I get a text from my niece begging me to make this dip for The Super Bowl again this year. I have a feeling this will become a Super Bowl staple.
